On Opportunity Cost
A brief pause to build the foundation for the next chapter.
Last week, I didn’t publish anything.
I was traveling and decided to focus on spending time with friends and family. I could’ve tried forcing something out, but it wouldn’t have met the standard that I’m aspiring for this newsletter.
Yesterday, I came back from my travels and faced a similar dilemma. I hadn’t written anything I was truly proud of and didn’t want to publish something subpar simply for the sake of meeting a deadline.
In my last issue, I wrote about opportunity cost, explaining that every time you decide to do something, you’re giving something else up. Time is a limited resource, and we all get the same 24 hours in a day.
I’m currently in the process of getting fully licensed to become a full-fledged financial advisor; however, I haven’t been studying as much as I’d like to, in part because of the time and energy I’m spending on writing each weekly issue.
I’m now realizing that by trying to do everything at once, I’ve been spreading myself too thin and have started to miss the milestones I set out for myself.
The time I’m spending writing and organizing my thoughts is time that I could be using to study for my licenses, which is ultimately paramount to building the foundation I need for this next chapter, so I’ve made a decision.
Over the next few months, I've decided to take a brief pause from the newsletter to focus on studying and completing my licences. This is a period that will require my focused, undivided attention.
Instead of publishing inconsistently or lowering the bar, I’m choosing to pause altogether to ensure that when I return, my writing is thoughtful, consistent, and worth your time.
My goal is to be back once I’m a fully registered financial advisor. This way, I can dedicate the time and energy this project requires, without getting distracted.
Thank you for reading and for supporting my work. I’ll be back in a few months.
For those who think long-term.
New ideas on money, decisions, and compounding. Every week.

Where you place your attention is where you place your energy, i couldn't agree more with it, good luck and see you soon!
